The free textile art workshops are on Wednesday 7 August and Sunday 11 August, and Sunday 18 August and Wednesday 21 August and people are welcome to drop in from 1:00pm to 4:00pm.
Cumbria Wildlife Trust’s piece for the Carlisle Pageant will celebrate the life and work of scientist and ecologist Derek Ratcliffe who helped to protect birds of prey.
The drop-in workshops will be run at Gosling Sike, Houghton, CA3 0LD. The local wildlife charity is also looking for volunteers to help run the workshops. For more information on the free sessions or to volunteer call Cumbria Wildlife Trust on 01228 829570. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
The puppet pageant is an annual Carlisle City Council event where community made puppets parade through the streets. This year’s theme is ‘A Kaleidoscope of Carlisle Life – celebrating the people and achievements that have made the city what it is today.’
The parade takes place on Saturday 7 September from the Old Fire Station in Carlisle. For the second year, the large-scale puppets are being produced by Prism Arts with support from Carlisle City Council.
