About the event
These are exciting times, as Cumbria Wildlife Trust, in partnership with British Dragonfly Society and Natural England have been working to introduce the nationally-rare white-faced darter to Drumburgh Moss. Numbers have been steadily increasing at the site and hopefully that continues this year.
We will be gathering and collecting the exuviae, (a fancy word for the skin that dragonfly nymphs shed before they metamorphose into the flying creature we all know) to then be counted to get an idea of the population size.
Expect some uneven and wet ground.
Come along for the morning and help us monitor one of England’s most threatened dragonfly species. Please be aware that some events may be cancelled as good weather is essential.
Where: Drumburgh Moss Nature Reserve, Drumburgh CA7 5DR.
