Right through the night

Osprey sleep at night ! If with eggs or chicks, the female will usually sit on them with their head tucked under one wing. The male usually spends the night in very close proximity perched in a nearby tree.

Our female, as shown in the image, has now been sitting on the nest almost contiuously throughout the night and day since 26th April, only swapping duties to feed on fish brought to her by the male. The male would then take over sitting!
