The book began as a response to the removal of everyday nature words - among them 'acorn', 'bluebell', 'kingfisher' and 'wren' - from a widely used children’s dictionary, because those words were not being used enough by children to merit inclusion. Some of the spell songs are incorporated into the garden.
The Lost Words garden is coming alive after winter dormancy. Spring bulbs are blooming, blossom it bobbing in the breeze and visitors are making themselves known. This blog highlights the flowers and animals in the garden now.
