Global event ticketing platform Ticket Tailor donates £28,000 to Cumbria Wildlife Trust
Ticket Tailor, which helps event organisers sell tickets internationally, from pottery classes to pop concerts, are donating 1p per ticket sold to charities working on the climate emergency, including Cumbria Wildlife Trust.
Their recent donation of £28,333 is to support our work protecting and restoring natural carbon stores, in particular at Witherslack Mosses, which includes our nature reserves at Foulshaw Moss, Meathop Moss and Nichols Moss.
Michelle Waller, Senior Development Officer at Cumbria Wildlife Trust, said: "This is fantastic news, we're very grateful to Ticket Tailor for this very generous donation which will support the important work that's ongoing on some of Cumbria's precious peatbogs.
"Healthy peat bogs are a fantastic carbon store, keeping CO2 locked underground, but when they're dried out and degraded, they release the CO2 into the atmosphere. So by re-wetting areas of peat bog and covering bare areas of peat bogs with specialist bog-loving plants such as Sphagnum moss to speed up the regeneration of the bog, we will trap the carbon securely underground. As well as helping tackle climate change, we're restoring this important habitat for Cumbria's wildlife. We also hope to replace damage areas of boardwalk, making it easier for people to access the site and enjoy the surroundings, without walking directly on the peatbog and damaging it."
