Lakes hotel supports local wildlife
Jonathan and Caroline Kaye, owners of Cedar Manor Hotel, explained why they have joined us as corporate members: “We are delighted to support Cumbria Wildlife Trust as we encourage tourism into the Lakes and Cumbria and feel that we should be helping to give something back to the area. Cumbria Wildlife Trust does fantastic work by protecting and conserving the wildlife that we all love to see.”
Michelle Waller, Senior Development Officer at Cumbria Wildlife Trust said: “We’re delighted to welcome Cedar Manor Hotel as corporate members of the Trust. This scheme is a great way for local businesses to show their commitment to protecting and conserving our fragile natural heritage. The hotel’s commitment to sustainability makes them a natural partner for us, as we stand up for Cumbria’s wildlife and wild places and raise environmental awareness across the county.”
Cedar Manor Hotel was recently one of four hotels nationwide shortlisted in the Sustainable Hotel of the Year category of the 2018 Hotel Cateys. This award recognises hotels which have taken innovative steps to neutralise their impact on the environment. The hotel holds a Green Tourism Award and next month is hosting a conference on sustainable tourism, at which global warming will be high on the agenda.
