The camera footage clearly shows that the nest has become much larger than last week. Clearly the male bird has resolved the issue with the single stick that he kept repositioning, and they have brought in many more sticks to use.

We've not spotted any eggs in the nest yet, but it shouldn't be long now so keep checking back.

Aside from ospreys, the glorious weather has given many  sightings of adders, lizards and green hairstreak butterflies at Foulshaw Moss. A magnificent pair of cranes were in the area early in the week. David, a local birdwatcher, was lucky enough to see them circling over Foulshaw Moss on Monday morning, having possibly been roosting here somewhere. 

On Wednesday the first cuckoo was heard, calling in the sunshine and making it feel like summer at last.

If you want to visit the site, do be aware that the osprey nest is a long way from the viewing platform, so a telescope will prove very useful.

We are building a rota of volunteers to try and have somebody there every day to help you see the ospreys. If anyone would be intersted in joining this rota then please contact me via the Cumbria Wildlife Trust office. 

I have been overwhelmed with the generosity of people who have donated  to our Foulshaw Moss osprey camera appeal . Clearly I'm not the only person who would love to see our camera footage streaming live on the internet as soon as possible, so a big thank you to everyone who has helped us so far.
